Unless there's some kind of problem, most crabbers let them moult in the tank, Also, if you catch a crab that seems ready to moult and put it in ISO, it likely will not moult any time soon.

They know what to do and rarely need our help.

Don't try to dig up or pick up the hermit crabs that you suspect are moulting, unless you really have to.

It is very tempting to dig them up. We all know we have been there. The first few are always the hardest. The best thing you can do for them though is to let them be they know what they are doing better than we do.

How long have you had your hermies? If they are newer, it might be they are still destressing from PPS.

definitely do NOT dig them up. that's how we lost shelley. her and lemi were under molting and we kept digging them up, thinking that being under the sand for so long was bad for them. however, lemi survived our insaneness lol and i've had him now for....well, we're going on 3 years. he's still doing very well. he went from the size of a dime to a 50 cent piece. i'm so proud of him!
they do dig for fun and to destress, like it's stated above. so just let them do their thing. like i've said before, they know what they're doing more than we do :)
