Eyes

I was looking at my crabs today. Still trying to figure out the species lol I noticed on one of my little crabs that it only has 1 eye. The other eye stalk is there but there is no little dark eye on the end of it. I know they regrow their limbs. Will the eye come back does anyone know?

huh, i wonder if he got hurt in a fight. that's sad, but at least he's with you and is happy. i had one, token, who had one black eye and one reddish eye.

i have a crab with one eye, olivia. well she kinda has one and a half eyes. lol. she came from my best friend who got bored with her and the other crab she had hermie. i think they got into a fight and ended up getting her eye pinched off. ouch that must hurt alot.

I bought 2 crabs with eye probelms, One crab has one eye alot smaller than the other, and the other ones eye had the same thing but the bigger eye was cloudy. Now the eye isn't cloudy anymore and is the same size as the other. I think when I bought him he must have just finished a molt and there was skin left on the eye that he eventually got off.

Has anyone had a hermit crab lose an eye from a stressful moult? I know hermit crabs can lose legs and claws if their moult is too difficult for them, but have eyes ever been lost?

A hermie can regenerate an eye, but it doesn't always happen. It takes a bunch of moults though.

Oh, really? I'm sure that it will take many moults, because the eye is one of the most complex organs of a hermit crab.
