Sense of smell?

Post by CAS_678 »

Does anyone know if they have a strong sense of smell?
I know they are scavengers so would just happen to come across most of their food, but does anyone find they respond quickly if a bowl of favourite food is put in the enclosure?
Just curious!

They do have a strong sense of smell, but as they are cold-blooded animals (thus burn less energy to stay alive), they do not eat as much as a warm-blooded animal of similar size and weight. They do prefer to eat something different each time.

It is said they can smell food up to 1 mile away.
