Recently I found a site that had copied and pasted the HCP Crab Care section word for word without linking back to HCP or any form of credit or references.
It is becoming more frequent that I am following links only to find the information has been stolen from another well known established site, and used as its own!
CrabbyWiki had had information taken and used as ones own as well. And HCAssociation, All Things Crabby, Hermit Crab Adoption Center, Crab Street Journal, etc. (all sister sites)
A statement/post has been made that I would like to refer to now for reading from the Sister sites Flag ship:

Where as we learn from sharing and helping, please have the courtesy to also link back to, or reference to where the information is from.

Wow,
Gee, that's a bummer, you do all the work and someone else copies it and pastes it without even a "howdie doo" saying here is where this came from. Well I like it HERE.

Well, not "howdie doo" but some have the nerve to do a good bashing about the sites they are taking information from, not a single good word to be had. And a couple then farm/troll for members from the good source information sites as well.

Yep, we need to be very aware when we are out looking and reading information. Watch carefully to feel the mood of the board, and notice if there is bashing going on. I won't stay on a forum where people are bashing others. Immediately puts me off and I don't want to be there. If they will bash another forum, what are they saying about YOU behind your back? If someone is saying nasty things about anybody, they will certainly take their turn at you if you happen to set them off.
It's a shame some people feel they can just grab information from other sites and not share the source. For one thing, it's just plain wrong to take credit and make people think YOU came up with the information, and on top of that, they rob you of a resource that you could have had, namely being able to visit the site yourself to find out what else they have to say there, especially if the information is good!
It's always wrong to let people think you came up with info yourself, whether by omission (not stating it came from elsewhere) or by outright lying.
Hopefully everyone keeps a sharp eye and maybe even gives a heads up when they know for certain someone has plagiarized.
I know we all have to work on ourselves to be honest, good people, and ethics can be hard for some. It's often much easier than some people realize - if it feels wrong, don't do it. Just don't.

Re: Plagiarism on the rise
I feel the purpose of this board is information and kindship as we all love the Hermies. Once a board becomes spiteful or nasty, then they lose the flavor of the quality of the forum. JMO I like it here, its nice. I go no where else.
