Falling crab

Post by CrabbyMamma »

Just a quick one... now two of our crabs are in their new tank, the smallest one (its name is Shelly, btw - our 5 year old named our crabs :)) has spent the last few hours investigating. One thing I have noticed is that it keeps climbing a medium size artificial tree we have, the tree is like a stump with large leaves hanging out of the top - anyhoo, it keeps climbing up to the leaves part, and then trying to walk along the leaves and falling out of the tree. It has done it about 5 times now. Once it landed in the plastic water dish, the other times it landed in the sand.

Is there a reason for this? Should I be worried?

lol Crabbymama, sometimes our little crabs are just "special". I've read of silly ones doing this kind of thing before. I seem to recall someone with a climbing wall and their crab would climb up and fall off, climb up and fall off.
don't worry, as long as your crab won't fall on anything hard and hurt itself (banging their shell on something hard isn't okay), it should be fine.
They really are "special" pets lol.

Thanks :) He did it another 3 or 4 times after I posted, so I am glad to know he is just a bit 'special' and that there is not something wrong with him :)
