When did he drop them? As long as he still has his claws, he should be able to eat and drink, but he will be more clumsy. What is the temperature and humidity in your tank? I hope you are not using a critter keeper with gravel.
Being you just got him, it doesn't sound good. Do you have any 100% pure natural honey? As well as Wai's questions, what were the pet store tank conditions like where you bought him at? (temp & humidity %) What were they using as a substrate?

Depends on what kind of sand you're using as to whether it is a good choice or not.
It depends on whether you are using a glass tank, or a plastic critter cage with a lid that has slits and a door in the top as to whether it is a good tank or not.

Ok so that the other one doesn't die, are you using the heating pad as your only source of heat? If so human heating pads are not an acceptable form of heating. Heating pads are for humans not glass tanks and hermit crabs or other reptiles for that matter. Second of all your sand needs to be play sand that you can get a 50lb bag for $4 or less at home depot, do not do what the petstore says as all the crabbers that are more experienced have come to learn. What kind of lid are you using on your tank? If it is mesh or metal screen you need a damp towel over it to help keep humidity in. I recommend doing the foam insulation board I use that you can also get in a 4' x 8' sheet at home depot for $10 and it will make 3 to 4 lids depending on the size tank you have which you still didn't tell us what size it is. If you find a damaged one you can get the whole sheet for a huge discount, home depot gave it to me for 75% off since it was damaged in a spot I was cutting anyways. It is in the insulation section and blue on one side and silver on the other side and you can get it in 1/2" thick or even 1" thick even though the 1" thick stuff is a tad bit more money. You just cut it to the lip size of the tank and cover the sides with duct tape to make it look finished. It is ugly but does the job. You can view my lid in the 11 to 20 gallon section of the gallery. Cut a hole out and get a clamp lamp from home depot for $5 (I have 2 one for each bulb) also and a day and night heating bulb (which you may need a few different wattages so you can find the one that is right for you but they will let you return the ones that don't work for you). Do you have a temp/humidity gauge (really needed as you need to know the temp and humidity levels in the tank at all times (those can be purchased for around $12 for the regular ones with the dial to $25 for the digital one it is up to you on what one you purchase). We want to see the other crab survive, please do those few things and you should be able to save your last one and then be able to get him a friend or two or three. Do you have any places for them to hide like a cocohut or even a rock house? Do you have fake plants? Do you have 2 water dishes, 1 for dechlorinated salt water and 1 for dechlorinated fresh water? Do you have stuff for them to climb up on like a 2nd level and some wood or even netting? We really need these answers so we can help you out and you can be the best crab mommy you can be. I started off the same way as everyother crabber and we all learn as we go. I have had no deaths but I know others have because the petstore told them one thing and then low and behold their crabs die and no one knows why and it is usually due to what the petstore tells the customer.
Proud mommy of 2 beautiful daughters Kytana and Danica, 1 cat Princess and 1 dog Liebschen
Due to family issues my crabs have been adopted out to wizkidsmom (Cheryl), I know she will care for them like I did. Thanks Cheryl
Another important thing to remember is food. Those pellets that are supposed to contain "everything your crab needs to be healthy" are not what your crabs need. They need fresh fruits and veggies, meats like shrimp and chicken and fish, and calcium from a cuttlebone or something similar.
My tank is 10'' by 20'' and i'll be sure to buy the things you said at the stores you requested and where ever i can find them. so i shouldn't use the food the pet shop requested?? can i feed him ledduce or apples??
