Xavi finally finished molting today. He dug down about 2 months ago, pretty long for a medium. I guess he tunneled underground because he dug up a couple inches away from where he dug down. But it was a perfect molt, he went down, did his thing, came back up hardened and ready to do what he wants. I checked his hole and couldn't find one piece of exo. I'm serving some high calcium foods right now just in case. I covered the hole and he's acting like his old self. He also dig up to a better tank! WAY more plants and climbing objects, more shells, better diet, and 3 new crabs which he's fine with. When he came up he was super sandy and gross, but he is solid purple and he looks a little "rusty" but he will get back to nice coloring soon!
Thanks to HCP for giving me great info that I will pass on to other crabbers when needed. This is my first molt, and it went great! Gomez is down now, I haven't seen him in a couple days, and he isn't in the tank so my best guess is that he went down to molt. Lets hope I get a 2 for 2! For any crabbers who have molting questions PM me!
