i still want to try the flavored cuttlebone. dont' have the money yet, trying to save up to move. anyway, what's the leaves? what kind of tree?

Oh yes, they love oak. In fact some of the old timers (including Carol of Crabworks--the legendary crab keeper) have always regarded oak leaves to be a "staple" food having the ability to enhance color and regulate digestion.

wow! that's a neat idea! well we finally found a place so i'm going to be looking for new kinds of food to try with my hermies soon. i'd love to try those leaves.

My Russian olive tree is beginning to leaf and I took some new leaves from it and Zamboni badly damaged the pile overnight! The deer eat them around here too. The horses in the pasture live off of dry Cottonwood leaves during the winter when there are no live plants to eat like grass and kochia. My crabs don't go after cottonwood leaves that much, but lots of folks have said that the cottonwood leaves are a big hit with their crabs.
