Deli Meat???
I have heard that you can feed hermies meat, since they are scavengers. What about deli meats? There's probably too much oil and preservatives in deli meat but i figured i'd ask..

I personally would not feed them deli meat. I have tried chicken before. I got some of the froze boneless chicken breasts and I have boiled them in decholirinized water til it was cooked. Then I ripped it into pieces and froze the rest til I needed more.

DELI MEAT
Deli meat has lots of salt and possibly preservatives and spices. I would avoid feeding it, but it probably isn't the best thing for them. Carol of CrabWorks gives her guys small pieces of vienna sausages occasionally and her crabs are over 30 years old. Lunchmeat is probably about the same. But if you do feed it, know that that is their junkfood for the month and only feed healthy stuff after that.

It went over very well. They grabbed pieces and took it in the hut with them. I have given them tuna also in spring water it did not go over well the first time I have more hermies now and I think I am gonna try it again.

deli meat caution
Proceed with CAUTION. It IS junkfood, even if they like it.

I should clarify. Meat (raw or cooked, unseasoned, no salt, no preservatives) should be a regular part of a crab's diet (protein), but lunchmeat should never be more than an occasional snack.Jedi_Sena wrote:
