IS MY HERMIT DYING!?!?
I noticed today that my new little hermit crab lost a leg. He hasn't moved in seriously 2 whole days and he is half way out of his shell. The humidity and heat are perfect and the other crabs are fine. I put him under a coconut shell by himself along with some food. What else should I do? I don't want him to die!

sick hermie
Well, I'm sorry to hear about your little guy. If everyone else is fine, then it is nothing you did or didn't do. Putting him in the hut by himself is about all you can do. Although, I might put a little dish w/ honey in there w/ him because that can give them a boost of energy. Keep things dark, quiet, moist and warm so he can rest. You might consider isolating him because other crabs might abuse him if they detect that he is sick. He is probably suffering from stress caused by the petstore and lots of crabs don't make it through that introductory period, but you can't blame yourself. Just make him comfortable and he'll either get well or not. It is up to him.

sounds like you did everything you can do. unfortunately there is not much that is known or can be done for the hermies. ISO is all you can do. i'm sorry for your loss. focus on your other ones, they'll help lift your spirits.
