i took spike out of the tank and there has been no more dismemberment. Spike used to get picked on. Then one day I put a shell in the tank that had spikes all over it. The next day the bullied crab moved in and we called him spike. We used to joke and say he was on the warpath. Looks like he really was.

i'm glad you found out which one it was. sounds like he moved into a shell and it made him feel powerful lol.

putting him back with the others would make me nervous. maybe he needs a long timeout. he may just like being by himself, who knows. good luck!

yeah, some crabers sepperate their naughty crab from all the other for about a week. and then they put them back in.

are they ok after that week long timeout? what happens if a violent crab is still violent after being in ISO?

I don't know. It's just something I heard off of HCAssoc.. I don't know what else you would do...I mean, maybe you could have a seperate tank for him and find him one crab buddy they he likes.

It's a terrible act, but don't forget, he was a big hermit crab and was probably taken out when he was well adapted to the wild. It would have been very stressful for him to lose his freedom. After ISOing him, you might want to spend some time with him so that he gets to know you. My Jupiter used to beat up my other little ones but she hasn't murdered anyone.

take the mean crab boil some water and put it in your bathroom then put him next to it close the door after about ten minutes go in and the crab should be nice and relaxed
