My first hermit crab has shed! It's my first shedding. I do, though, have two in the tank (it's 10 gallons). I found him streaking but he quickly climbed into a shell (it's much too big for him but I'm sure he'll switch if its a problem). I also found his exoskeleton half buried with my other crab a quarter inch away from it.
My question is if it's safe to leave the exoskeleton in there? I don't want to increase the chances of cannibalism by leaving it in there but I know it has grwat nutrients.

Re: Exoskeleton
Get the exoskeleton away from your other crab. Hermit crabs will eat exoskeletons of others as they are rich in nutrients. Put a divider to separate the two crabs from each day. Make sure the other crab can't climb over or dig under the divider.
