My Lot have just discovered Dates & go nuts for them..
I mix them with a little honey, almond meal, seaweed, pine nuts & their dried shrimp... Loving it..

Last night they polished off a puree of carrots, pumpkin, swede, sweet potato & normal potato..
I swear they eat better than I do... :D
They also love a simple fruit salad...
I do make sure that I scrape some cuttle bone over it too... Just for the extra calcium boost..

I sprinkle spirulina powder over all of my hermit crabs' food. :)

I don't know if Aus. has this product, but to buy spirulina in a health food store here is about $20 and before even this crew would eat even 1/2 of it it would expire. So a couple years ago I began to buy a freeze dried product by Hikari "Brine shrimp and Spirulina". (YES it smells) but the hermies eat it without mixing and both ingredients are good for them.

Quick dish of green fruits and veggies.

Post by lilohermies »

So yesterday I decided to make a meal made completely out of green fruits and vegetables and my hermit crabs loved it, so I thought I would share it with the forum. (:

Ingredients: (Make sure they're all organic and free of harmful chemicals or pesticides.)
1. Green Apple
2. Broccoli
3. Green Grape
4. Celery
5. Kiwi
7. Green Mango
8. Cabbage
9. Kale
10. Green Lentils
11. Pumpkin Seeds

Just cut them up into little bits and put them in your crabs dish. From my experience, they enjoy it more when you separate the bits rather then when you mix it all together in some kind of fruit-vegetable-salad thing. As for the pumpkin seeds, I don't believe you have to cut/crush it up. I got them as samples from the addiction store, and btw, they're green too! (: So I hope your crabbies enjoy the recepie and any advice on how to improve my recepie would be great!
