Re: new crab ownerREALLY NEED HELP!!!!
Sorry for your loss. Wire cages were never meant to house invertebrates such as land hermit crabs.

Re: new crab ownerREALLY NEED HELP!!!!
I am sorry to hear he has passed. If you would like another 2 hermies, please do read the Crab Care section and have the criteria they really do need to survive. Many of us were not aware as to what their needs are either when we first got our hermies.

Maybe next time if ever
Maybe before even considering getting another one, you would read up for about a month to make sure you prepare for his arrival. It gets pretty expensive when you find out that they need room and a glass tank and sand or coconut substate and humidity and heat. The food portion could be your easiest as they do like stuff from the fridge like carrots and eggshells and meat. But do lots of research because i am kind of new only three months and i hang out on the posts here to find answers to questions several times a day. I spent alot of money on these little guys so they better have a decent home and make it worth my while. I like them scientifically for the interest of their behaviour and it makes me really happy to see them respond. Time will tell if mine are going to make it and if I am doing everything right. But one thing is for certain, those stores are full of BEANS. They don't know anything about caring for a hermit crab. It would be like someone from South America suddenly trying to adapt to Alaska. WE have to make a home that is like their home. JMO Good luck
