Hey guys I purchased a nifty little product it is called Zoo med mite off. It is meant for reptiles, but I didn't know if it would hurt the crabbies. It states right on the bottle that....
* Completely safe, non-toxic, and pesticide free!
* Safe to spray on skin even around eyes
* Meant for reptiles, snakes lizards and tortises
not for arachnids and amphibians. I was wondering if that meant crustaceans also?
The ingreadiants are:
* water
*carrot
*corn oil
*glycerin
*guar gum
*onion powder
*orange pulp
*soy bean oil
*tallow
*vanillin
One more thing I was wondering if this is safe for hermies, and if i could be notified ASAP! Also does anyone have any expierence with this and crabbies?

I assume that the product attacks insects and arachnids, so there is a risk that it will cause harm to crustaceans too. These three classes of animals are all arthropods. I don't think anyone has tested such a product, but I certainly wouldn't expose my hermit crabs to it no matter how much money I am paid.

Ok thanks Wai! Now I just wonder if you did happen to have a mite invasion and you take the crabs out and place them in an iso. and then spray the mite off in the tank and let it sit would it then cause harm? Although the crabs would go in the tank again it wouldn't be directly on the crab. I'm just wondering because I have already bought it and don't just want it to sit there.
If I really have to I will take it back.

Re: Zoo med mite off?
Take it back and get your money back. The spray is harmful to all the arthropod phylum which is the phylum that crustaceans/hermies are from. The spray in the tank is also similar to products like Raid for crawling insects. Just because it dries doesn't mean it isn't still working. Reptiles and hermies are from 2 completely different phylum's. There are safe ways to get rid of mites if one has been invaded.
Edited to add: When you get your money back for the mite spray, stop and buy some white distilled vinegar. It is less expensive, safe to use and you will still have change from it.

Re: Zoo med mite off?
I have used the vinigar method and it worked for a little bit but not long, I was thinking about the predatory mites too. I will take it back, although I was thinking into a reptile, and not sure what I want yet.
