What kind of pests?

Without more info there's not much we can do...
what kind of tank do you have?
what kind of lid is on it?
What sort of heat source do you have?

What do you feed your crabs?
How often do you change the food?

What kind of substrate do you have? (such as sand, or eco earth, etc.)
Is it wet or dry?

What is the temperature in the tank?
What is the humidity?

All of these things will help us determine what you should do, so please answer them ALL the best you can.

There is not much we can do, but maybe if you have your mom read the crab care section here at the HCP she will see that there are certain criteria they need?

As for the gnats, please do read this recent thread about gnats/fruit flies:

Read the link that Ladybug gave you, even if some of it seems boring. You will find the information you need.

Also, if they are going after the grapes, try not to feed fruit for a bit of time until the gnats are gone. Change the food out every morning when it is fresh food.

You can put a small dish of vinegar and water outside the tank to attract the bugs. Do not put the dish inside the tank. If you cover it with saran wrap and put a hole in the top, the bugs can get in but won't easily get out and will drown in the vinegar water that attracted them. You may want to put out two or three dishes around the tank.

It sounds like you don't need a heater right now, but in the winter you might. It's important to have a thermometer and humidity gauge in the tank, so make sure you get those.

Do read the crab care section, it's important to have all that your hermies need to live a long time.

by the way you asked if you should listen to your mom - absolutely. But in the mean time you can read up on the information Ladybug linked for you, and then share the information with your mom. Then perhaps your mom will see the need to get rid of the bugs, as well as the ways to get rid of them which are pretty simple.

Your job is to convince your mom to help you, or to allow you to do some things on your own to help your crabs, unless she feels you need an adult to help.

In the future, to save both your time and ours, please give us as much detail as you can about the problem you are having at the beginning. That way we don't have to guess what is going on in your tank so that the problem is solved as quickly as possible.
