Okay, so it's not a hermit crab that's molting, but it's still interesting to see. This is a 12 foot spider crab at a Japanese aquarium. The 1:41 video shows 6 hours of actual time.

That was very different than I imagined it. I wonder at what point the crab feels the exoskeleton is no longer part of its self...does it feel trapped in something else while still inside? or does it detatch mentally once outside...? Thanks so much for the post
