My crabs are freaks.

Post by catiefsm »

Yyyep. First of all, I have two very new ones, that I adopted from someone on Craigslist who couldn't take care of them anymore. They're awesome, but they freaked me out the first few days, by just sitting around on top of one of the logs and STARING at me! Alll day. And moving shells around and just setting them on top of the same logs. Freaks.

And one of my older ones, Eureus, I got a rather large, new piece of drift wood, he just climbs to the top and sits there for ages! I kind of worry that he doesn't know how to get down, or something!

I've got eight in total now, none of them give me much trouble, they just hang out and act awesome. I was just wondering if anyone else has crabs that occasionally make them go... Wuuuut?

Sometimes, I think that's what crabs do best. My guys lately have been climbing up to the top of the tank and doing laps of it when I get home from work...leaving me to ask "what are you guys thinking?" Mine don't stare at me as much, but they do enjoy being strange.

Oh, and don't worry about the one on the driftwood - he can get down. He just likes something about the spot - perhaps he's basking in a heat source?

Not unless my gauges are off!

But yeah, I'm not particularly worried. I've had others do weird stuff, and they're not acting sick at all, but I'll just keep an eye out.

My two jumbos are stare-ers too, 8| . Especially Cartman; Godzilla does it more when he's the only one out, but yeah. They will come right up to the side of the tank (I sometimes just sit there & try to be quiet and still to watch them) and she will just.....stare at me. Makes me feel like she wants to have a staring contest, but no fair if she has no eyelids! :P Pikachu will do it too, but she will freeze when she does it like she thinks if she doesn't move I won't see her; it's pretty funny!
