Found something white crawling on my hermie..

Post by RYANDM »

I was closely looking at my PP'S and noticed this small white bug or whatever crawling on one of my PP'S leg! I immediately took out all my PP'S and gave them all a salt water bath.. What might have prevented this?

First you have to find out just what the pest is. If you put your hermies right back into your tank, they still have the problem. The bugs are in the tank, and all the substrate has to be disposed of as well as all of the tank supplies boiled. The crabs will need another bath before placing them back into the cleaned tank. You will have to do this again in about 5 days to make sure if any more hatched they are also gotten rid of. You won't necessarily see them, but they can hide easily. If you aren't very diligent with this they will only return.

It really depends on what kind of bug you've got. Look here to see if you can identify it:

There is also a Pest Guide that maybe of some help in helping you to ID what kind of pest it is.
