Orangy Surface Molted

Post by Chermo »

Some of you may have read my thread in the streaking section about Orangy now here is other news about her.........

I had my first surface molt. Orangy has been acting weird and I she was dug up by one of my crabs 2 times so she finally found a place under the bridge in the tank (a fish tank bridge). I found her naked 2 times in a week. I put her in a cup with lots of shells in the tank with a towel over her and she picked Kermi's old shell that I removed the paint off of. I was scared that she was sick and dieing. I saw something under her yesterday so I picked up the bridge and her shell thinking I was going to find a dead crab and I saw pieces of legs all under her, I looked in the shell and there she was all nice and pink. I put her back down over her leg pieces and put the bridge back over her. I was so relieved that she had not died. I was upset about her being dug up twice and then out of her shell twice in the same week that I figured she was dieing, it never occurred to me that she was molting anymore since she was dug up twice.

Due to family issues my crabs have been adopted out to wizkidsmom (Cheryl), I know she will care for them like I did. Thanks Cheryl

Well, it's good that she's molting. Hope everything goes good. I'd pop bottle her, just so noone disturbs her (if she isn't in iso).

She is under the bridge right now and no one seems to be bugging her, I keep an eye on her all the time. Soupy is under the sand again (not sure what he is doing he likes to be under I guess). Kermi went over there one time and I pushed her out and she has not gone back since.

Mines from Petsmart, I love it. I works out great as a hiding spot for 2 crabs. They never climb it, well at least I never see them climb on it.

Well I'm glad everything is getting better, my crab has been down for like a month and a half, when they go down do they molt, harden and eat the old exo all underground? I hear they molt, dig up harden then eat the exo.

The dig down, molt, eat exo and come back up after a destressing period I am sure since molting is very stressful.
