Fresh Shrimp or molting death....

Post by Chermo »

I put fresh shrimp in the tank every morning and remove the old every morning. Now when I opened the lid the smell of fish came from the tank. Orangy is down and was not doing that well before she went down, Kermi and Soupy are out and about at night so I know they are fine. So now I wonder if it is the shrimp that I am smelling or Orangy. I took out the shrimp this morning and have not put anymore in the tank right now and I still kinda smell it. It is not as strong as when I took off the lid for the morning to change the food. Can anyone tell me how much of a fishy smell is a dead crab? I just can't tell if it is Orangy or the shrimp I feed them.

Due to family issues my crabs have been adopted out to wizkidsmom (Cheryl), I know she will care for them like I did. Thanks Cheryl

Stop feeding the shrimp for a couple of days and see if the smell is still there.

if it just smells like fish than its the shrimp however if it really knocks you back and you cover yor nose or whatver like it really smells than your crab has probably passed.

Open the window, wait a couple hours. let the air flow thru the room. Then smell... you'll find out whenever you change out the tank.
