When I first bought Mr. Krabs I held him in the car on the ride home and he never pinched. They do it more out of holding on than attacking you. I would try it. That reminds me of a sign I have on the door of my room.

I love that sign, it is perfect, I want one for my office when they go in there. I will have company staying in the office in October and that sign would be funny to have on the door when they walk in.

They won't pinch you I don't think. Mine rarely even try. Just prevent them from thinking they're going to fall.

I would like to hold them but I need to start out small. I also have small kids here that are always over me when the crabs are out of their crabitat. I did have the 1 on my lap yesterday but I couldn't get the courage to put my hands down to let him climb on them. I wasn't planning on picking him up at all just letting him walk on my hands but I just couldn't get the courage. I am going to get some gloves for now until they know me better. I have only had them for 6 days and they sometimes hide when I even look at them. I am sure they were not treated so well in the pet store since they were living on rocks with a dish for salt water, regular water and food that was not fresh foods it was the stuff you buy from the store. I will get the courage once I hold them a few times with gloves on. I will be getting my gloves this weekend so I will hold at least the one that seems more friendly (Kermi) since the other one has burried himself and I can only see the tip of his shell sticking out of the sand. I will get use to it I just want to use gloves first. I can get tattoos but I am afraid of a pinch from a crab, who would have thought?

Haha. It doesn't hurt that bad if it's a small crab.

That's just your brain keeping you safe. I'm terrified of needles, yet I know they're not bad, and it doesn't hurt much, for long. I just cant help being terrified of them lol. Sort of like with the crabs for you. You are sure they aren't going to pinch when you pick them up, but you can't help being a little wary. My hermies have never even made an attempt to pinch me, and I handle them all the time.

Yeah. I cried when I first got a blood test done (and that was only a month ago, HAHA!). Hope you get around out handling them.

When I bought my large crab he pinched with his small claw, and his large claw, but fairly light.
