My first successful...

Post by Chermo »

I had my first successful molt today, Kermi came up today. She went down 1 day later than Soupy and came up today. She is just now eatting her grape with cuttlebone sprinkled on it, I also gave her some steak but she doesn't seem interested in that as of now. I sprinkled all the food in the tank with cuttlebone, she also has dried coconut, raspberries and apples in a shell. I did find some of her old exo so I put that in a dish that has calci sand in it. She has been doing some climbing and also some hiding with very little digging, just enough to hide her opening of her shell, mostly under the bridge which is on only 1" or less of sand, she just hides under it and digs as much as she can to hide. I am so happy my tank looks like I have something in it. I am now curious first when Soupy will come up (Soupy is smaller than Kermi) and if anyone would have a suggestion on when I can get more crabs for friends since Kermi just came up and Soupy is still down, Kermi seems lonely but still not as active as she was before she went down so I am giving her a few days but how long exactly should I wait before I get 2 more? I attached a pic of Kermi after her molt....

Aw, how cute! Awsome that you've had your first successful molt. I still haven't had any. Jorgen still isn't fully done his molt, and noone else has come up yet. I'm still waiting though! :)

I hated the waiting game but now that she is done she is still very shy. She keeps hiding under the bridge I have in the tank and digs in the 1" deep section of the sand all the way to the bottom of the glass (still under the bridge). I gave her some scrambled egg with the shell in it and sprinkled it with cuttlebone and also gave her a grape sprinkled with cuttlebone so I hope she eats some of it later.

She has been so shy since she came up. I don't know why. She hides all the time now.

Soupy came up sometime in the night, I saw him this morning. All 3 of mine are now up. I am so excited. I actually want Orange to go down too so that she can molt, I just got her 2 days ago so I am sure she will be down soon. I was just excited to see Soupy up so I could officially re arrange the sand.

Great news! You'll have to get a picture of Soupy. :)

I can't get him to come out of his shell to play as easily as I can Kermi. I will see what I have since he also changed shells. Kermi and Soupy now have matching shells, it is so cute to see them following eachother around. They are friends and are always close.

Well Congratulations! :D
I can imagine that its a good feeling.

Xavi is down for his and my first molt. He is a medium crab and has been down for about a week. I'm not really worried about him. He isn't ISO and he doesn't have a soda bottle over him.

I hope your future molts work out ;)

I hope Xavi comes up all pretty like Kermi and Soupy did, they look so refreshed after they come up, they seem much happier too. Soupy is down again but I am sure he is not molting again, probably just came up to get some water and food and went back down to finish hardening or something. Kermi has been staying up now, she is digging but always ends up back under the bridge by the food and water dishes. Kermi use to love the hermi hut but now she loves the bridge.
