wat is the point of salt water, i have a purple clawed crab?

I don't know all of their uses for it. I know that they use it during molting to help push off their exo. They also store some of it in their shells. It's not as important to Purple Pinchers, but they should still have some. It's more important to some species than others, but they should all have some. Remember though, no table salt.

I think you should. Some good sea salt brands are: Instant Ocean and Oceanic. You can get the stuff that is a liquid too. It's Zoomed salt water conditioner for hermit crabs.
