Molting Difficuties

Post by stamppimp »

My crab J.C. molted yesterday inside his house, he had been in there since the day before. Because the other crab, Beauford, has a tendency to bother J.C. when he molts, I immediately moved him to the ISO tank. I noticed today that J.C. has not yet completed his molt, his rear left leg is still attched to the old shell.
Has anyone ever seen this happen to their crabs before??? I'm worried that this may cause him to loss the leg or worse. Is there anything that I can do to help him complete the molt? This is the third time he has molted since I got him a year and a half ago and it is the first time he has had a problem.
Other than the shell stuck to his leg, he seems to be alright. I sprayed a small amount of water on his shell and he immediately came out. I've had J.C. for a long time and I don't want anything to happen to him. I would appreciate any suggestions anyone can give.

Don't spray him directly with water, but make sure the humidity levels in the tank are very high and that he has easy access to water and food if he needs it. Try not to fiddle with him as that will stress him even more.
