Grapewood: Is it safe?
So today, I went to PetSmart (to buy hermie stuff) and I ended up getting: A cute little sign that says "I'm crabby", a half log, and a pack of something called grapewood. I was wanting to know if this wood was safe to use. I read through the Crab Care section, and did not find any results. It's not painted, it's actual wood, and the package said "heat-treated". I hope it is safe, because my mom spent $4 on it!

Re: Grapewood: Is it safe?
The grape wood is safe, and many have used it. But I would strongly suggest to return the 1/2 log as they are mainly pine and/or a conifer tree. There's a post here at HCP somewhere about this... Emma first posted it a little while back.

I found the link:

and pictures of it in the links of my last posting here:

Wai, any place to put this in the Crab Care section?

Re: Grapewood: Is it safe?
I use grapewood in my tank and my crabs LOVE it. They spend a lot, if not most, of their downtime on it.
I had a half log too originally, but returned it and opted for a coco hut.

Re: Grapewood: Is it safe?
I have alot growing wild In my yard. They love both the wood and vine. I boiled pieces that will fit inside there crabitat then let it dry overnight. They love to climb it or anything else really.
