Prior to answering may I ask what is considered rock salt in your country? Rock salt here in the U.S. is salt that we would take out of a bag and put on our driveways or sidewalks to melt ice or snow during the winter time. But YEARS ago from a crabber from Aus. I learned rock salt in that country was something totally different.

I would recommend looking at your local grocer for something like natural sea salt - I know I can get it here in the US, it's unprocessed and even has different colored brown specks in it. I would use that in their food dish as a supplement until you can get some proper ocean salt mix, and that way you wouldn't have to worry about getting the correct proportion of salt to water. Not to mention that I think rock salt is also a highly processed salt, therefore it doesn't contain the nutrients that natural sea salt does. But double check me on that, and then do what you think might be best. :)
