I have had my first successful molt!
He had a few of his limbs missing and he grew them back. His feeder claw was missing and now it's there again.

I am a new crab owner and I am just soooo excited that I wanted to let you guys know...
I have had my first successful molt!
He had a few of his limbs missing and he grew them back. His feeder claw was missing and now it's there again.

Well done! I've never had a hermit crab missing a claw, but if I do see one at a pet store, I'd be tempted to rescue it to see quickly the claw regenerates.

We noticed it after we got him. He seemed to do ok without it, he used his big claw to feed.

Congrats! The first molt is always the most stressful, and especially with a missing body part! Be sure to feed lots of protein and calcium now to help your crab recover after this stressful experience!
