I seem to have a bully in the tank..I have 2 hermies one is small and the other is medium sized. I am still learning how to make them happy and am learning new stuff all the time but there is something bothering me, I have had these crabs since may and i noticed there other day my smaller crab was perched at the top of the choya wood and the medium one came up there and knocked the smaller one almost all the way off luckily the little one hung on. then tonight after i bathed them and returned them to the tank the little one got up on top of the hut and while the big one went exploring for awhile eventually though he climbed atop the hut and again knocked the little one off. i havent heard any chirping or seen any lost limbs....but it concerns me that the bigger one is becoming aggresive and i dont want him to hurt the other. what should i do about this ? or am i overreacting? Again i am new to this so any info is helpful
If the big dude insists knocking the little one down all the time, there isn't all that much you can do until they get used to each other. As long as the big dude isn't deliberately attacking the smaller one (which is unlikely, since the little one's shell would be too small to be of interest), things should be fine. You may also choose to isolate the two for a while. As long as the climbing toys aren't too high, your little one should be able to survive any fall, providing that you use a soft bedding such as sand.
I agree, I'd just keep a close eye on them. If there's anything serious, like fighting, then you'd need to separate them. Hermies are used to being pushed from places, they recover pretty quickly. That's why they have shells lol.
