we do the gallon water thing too. we put a couple teaspoons in. i hate math too. i got out of my education major bc they forced me to do math. now i'm a public relations major and hope to do event planning. just adding and subtracting there. math got complicated when they added the alphabet in a number world.

I read somwhere that even if you don't measure the right amount of salt that hermit crabs will instinctively take in equal amounts. So lets just say you put too much salt in your salt water dish, the hermit will just go over to your fresh water dish and drink enough to balance out its intake. The same goes with if you don't put enough salt in your salt water dish. The crab will most likly just drink more of the salt water. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that is what I heard.

I have heard that before. Hermies can tell the difference in the fresh and salt waters. They know what they need to so they will take care of it themselves.

I've been reading alot about hermit crabs lately, I read that your only suppose to put 50% of salt in the water. So say the directions say 2 tsp, then your only suppose to put in 1 tsp. I've been doing it wrong, so I'm starting to use only 50%
