If the reptile carpet didn't get damp or have food dragged on it... it might work, but they are known to mold too in such a humid environment.
I haven't been to Petco for awhile now but know at one time they did not sell the oolitic CaribSea Aragonite sand. (they only carried the wet live sand) Do you have a PetSmart near you? If not, Eco earth should work. But to ship sand usually costs more than the sand does itself due to how heavy it is.

Ya i might just fo full eco dirt for now just so i can get my 10gal up and running. Then if i do find some sand to use i could always add it .
Edit: I finaly got my API water conditioner. This might kinda be a newbie question but how much do i use like should i make a gal and store it or a cup or 2 . It just says on the bottle 1 drip per gal

It is Eco Earth and it is 100% pure cocofiber. Make sure to read the package, there are imitations out there for less and they are not 100% cocofiber.

Purple pincher 10 gal
Well I had to make a new topic because for some reason I cant find my old one.
Well I am finaly setting up my 10 gal tank for them today. I was woundering how should i clean the hide out because in my 5gal. I had a problem because pack rat would take chicken and other foods in his hide out and they kep molding. I didn't want to desturbe the little guy but i dont want him liveing in mold eather. He does come out of the hide out if I shut off the light and come back about 10min later. So should i wait for him to leave the hide out and then hurry and clean it??
The other problem I am haveing is the temp. With the light on it stays about 73-80 but at night I shut it off. When i come back the next morning it has droped to low 70s one day when its was realy cold at night it droped to 69!! I hurred and got the temp back up but i dont want him to freeze . So I was thinking I have a few heat rocks around is there like a safe way to use one of them in a 10 gal tank? I was thinking of mabey burrying it somehow.
Now back to the 10gal tank last time I used it it had fish in it. I stored it in a shed type thing over the winter and most of that winter it was at about 0 degrees lol. So would those cold temps kill most things, so i wont have to do a extream cleaning? Also what should I use to clean it? Some where i saw to use lemons but not sure.

Re: Purple pincher 10 gal
Wash out the bedding and dig your hands through it for any uneaten food. Use a night bulb as a heat source. Never use a heat rock.

Re: Purple pincher 10 gal
Thanks for the help. I will see if i can find a night lamp.
I noticed today that our apple tree has flowers on it and some were i saw that hermit crab love apple flowers. There are no pesticides on it because we only spray dindelions and thats at least a 100 feet or 200 feet away. I am also pearty sure we have not sprayed them this year eather. So would it be alright to get some flowers?
