Was he really light? Did his limbs break off?

Have you read about molting? If not, please do read as much as you can, often a molting crab can look exactly like a dead crab, and the molted crab itself can be so far back in it's shell you can't see it.
If he fell out of his shell, did his abdomen fall out too?

My newest ones are incredibly active and I've been having them since last night!
This is NOT uncommon for new hermies. They are totally stressed in the first place due to being ripped from their natural home and have undergone soooo much since their capture. To then be taken to yet another strange environment... your home that they are desperately looking for SOMETHING familiar to them. So please do leave them alone at this time and for a couple weeks after.
