Thanks for the help so far everyone =)
i was looking online too and found this, seems really nice. Very nice shells for very little cost. They seem polished, hope it's safe.

My local petco has a bucket of chipped grimy shells for $5 EACH! forget that.
oh, another thing I was thinking about

What size crab do you think that is? I was thinking somewhere between medium and large?

Re: Bullying?
Being he is a PP hermie my suggestion would be to purchase the lighter weight (brown tapestry) turbo shells. The shell packs I saw appear to have an assortment of shells in them.
If you're asking med. or large as to what size shells you need to purchase, here is how you measure the shell the hermie is in, then know what size you need to order:

Re: Bullying?
You'll want to purchase your shells by shell opening size. The link Marie gave is a great tutorial for figuring out how to judge size. I basically eyeball my crab's BP and order shells close to it's size. I like to get a good variety, that way I'm likely to have one or two they will choose. Shopping for shells can be fun.
Marie is right, turbo shells are best for PP's it seems, and the lightweight ones seem to be more popular with the hermies, such as the petholatus shells on the crabbage patch link you gave. Mine seem to choose the spotted and natural brown ones.

Re: Bullying?
Thanks for the suggestions, ill be ordering them soon.
for clarification, anything marked tapestry, turbo, or Petholatus is preferred for the PP? so basically most shells on this page (excluding the assortment bags)

Re: Bullying?
Yeah, most PPs tend to prefer the thinner turbos like on that page. If the shell looks thick but you have a dremel tool (it's like a little rotating sander thing) you can sand off the outside parts and just leave the shiny mother of pearl insides. I have one guy in one of those right now. I'm going to try to do that with some of my shells as I have a ton of rough turbos that they just won't stay in because of how thick and heavy they are.

Re: Bullying?
The link you gave had turbo shells that were heavier. (the green ones)
These are some nice lightweight turbo shells:

Re: Bullying?
There is no such thing as eyeballing weight out on the internet!
On the internet it is called 'experience'. The only way you can tell real weight of a shell is if you go to the pet store yourself and pick the shell up and hold it.

Re: Bullying?
Yep, I had no idea of the weight of the shells I ordered until I got them in my hands. The turbos that have a nice mother of pearl stripe in them, those suckers are heavy and I've not had any crabs choose those. They are quite thick. The white ones are very light, but I've not had anyone choose those either. They seem to like the spotted turbos, and the tapestry turbos, which are generally lighter. They did pick up the green turbos for a bit, but all but one have ended up trading those out.

Re: Bullying?
I have one currently in a pearlized turbo, and for a while he had chosen to wear a turbo with the MOP band. I'm currently saving up to get a dremel so I can wear down the thicker turbo shells I have - our little nail file doesn't really do much...none of my guys in turbos (except for one in a tapestry and one in a pearlized one) are in the really thin smooth ones like the tapestry turbos. They're all in jade turbos or ones like that.
