I am certain that your hermit crab is an Ecuadorian. A key difference between Ecuadorians and Rugs is their extra-thick walking leg. For Ecuadorians, the thickest leg segment is smooth and "rounded", but for Rugs, it is angular. Check out Marie's photos too for rectification.
