I kind of know how to take of a Straw. I've looked at an identifier and their was this picture that looked EXACTLY like him . It had glassy grey-black eyes, birght orange antenna, and was the same bright red with white pores. I have taken a picture of his claw, but my camera just ran out of battery so I have to charge it for a day before I upload it. I really don't know if my other one is a Cav at all . I'm guessing, because I haven't seen any other crab that looks like him! He is a very strange color and is very shy. He has some white on him, some orange, and some red.
-I'll try to get my pictures soon, but I'm confused about my orange crab!

Re: What kind of Hermies are my crabs?
If he has the same eyes as your straw, he could just be a straw that hasn't had the best diet. Your crab's coloring will change based on how much of the nutrients he needs are in his diet. Most of us find that, after owning them a few months, our crabs often darken in color.
If that's the case, then you should feed him (along with the other foods you give) colorful veggies like peppers and carrots, colorful flower petals (look at the list that Hermie's Rule posted in the Chirp and Chat forum on your post), and shrimp. The shrimp need to have at least their tails still on (this is where the crabs get a lot of their nutrition from the shrimp) but even better would be to pick up a $5 can of freeze-dried baby shrimp or krill at your pet store. You feed them to the crabs whole and they really do seem to like them - mine take them out of the bowl and all over the tank.
If you do have two straws, good luck with taking care of them - they are finicky little guys!

Re: What kind of Hermies are my crabs?
My "assuming it's a Cav." Hermie came out of his shell (1st Time Out Of Shell )so I could see him. His eyestalks are thick and he has big, beady, round,Dark-Black eyes. His eye stalks are a flaming red color. His body is deep red with orange and white legs and tips. His claws are mostly white and orange, but it's mostly the same as his body. He doesn't look at all like the other crab, so I'm assuming he's not a Straw.
I love all my hermies! They are all PPs.

Salt and pepper, please do keep your same topic questions within the same threads. This is another thread regarding ID'ing your hermies. If you cannot find your original postings, go to your profile area and check all the posts you have done and continue the ones you started.

"Link no longer available"? I don't recall typing that anywhere on my site. I checked the hyperlink I gave you last time and it is working.

Re: What kind of Hermies are my crabs?
Cavs have bright red feelers, and you described Salt's feelers as a peach color, so he is not a Cav.
As for the other being a strawberry, it is imperative that you get decent ocean salt water for him, he requires it more than the PP's or even the E's.
I'm sure others more familiar with the care of Straws can give you some pointers to help you out.
