shell disease

Post by Juggernaut »

It looks like the very first crab my son bought has shell disease. I have him in the 10 gallon tank by himself. This sucks.

Yes it does suck when you lose one you have had for awhile. Are you sure it is shell disease?

He got done molting about two weeks ago. I picked him up last night and noticed he had sand stuck on his claw. Trying to clean it I noticed it was a round pit. While washing it off he pulled it back in pain, then I noticed it started seeping a clear fluid. So from what I have read it seemed like shell rot.

Don't fiddle with him too much, but feed him extra nutrition food so that he will have enough strength to moult again. Hopefully that should be able to shed the spot off.

It looked like the pit was healing, but my roommate got stupid last night and turned the heat off. When I woke up his tank was at 65 degrees and he was dead.
