Serving messy food
I'm curious to see how other people serve messy food such as mango to their hermit crabs. Do you just throw it in like any other food or do you take extra measures to make it less messy after the crabs dig their claws in it? I once served coconut on a food dish placed on top of a second dish that was shallow and contained water, just to wash off some of the coconut milk from their bodies.

Re: Serving messy food
I use an extra wide food dish that's made for lizards. That way they can drag it away from the other crabs but don't have to take it into the substrate. I haven't really had a problem with mine burrying food, they only seem to do that with millet seeds. Usually mine go to the water dish after eating so they get cleaned off fairly well that way and then I just change the water

If its sticky and liquidy then i use a extra bowl (most of the time a plastic cap). If i am feeding messy foods like mango then i just use the same dish. My crabs will just pull it out on the ground no matter what so i just use the same dish.
