i think the small would be okay. there's really no normal time for a crab to be under (sadly!)

there probably is n average, but i don't know what it is, probably like a month.

Yeah there is an average. It is as follows:
How often
A micro will molt every 2 to 4 weeks
Small Hermie- 4 to 8 weeks
Medium hermie- 2 months to 6 months
Large hermie-6 months to 12 months
Jumbo hermies - 12 months to 18 months

Molt times
a small hermie --- 4 to 6 weeks
Medium hermie--- 5 to 8 weeks.
Large hermie ----- 2 to 3 months
Jumbo hermie ---- 3 to 4 months.
