Can hermitcrabs eat eggs.

Post by Isaiahtb »

I want to make a eggy surprise for my hermies once I get them the first day. But can I boil eggs in bottled\declorinated water or are the eggs harmful? First I will boil the spaghetti noodles and rice. Then boil one egg until it's soft and chop it up and put in with the rest. Finnaly I will pour 4 drops of olive oil and put a tad of melted butter for a fragrant. So do you think I could feed this to them?

I'm going to add a tiny amount. Just as a fragrant to attract them to it.Could I add some ground beef as well?

Beef sounds ok... I would just really be careful with the butter. Maybe one of the more experienced crabbers could give more input on it. If you really feel you need to use it, I would make sure it's unsalted :)

I made an omlet for my crabs by scrambling one egg (with shell crushed) and using a basting brush to brush the inside of a dish with a small amount of extra vergin olive oil, pour the egg in, add various fruits/veggies/meats and microwave until it's cooked. Then I just cut it up it to small peices and serve. I didn't use any butter, but it must have still been fragrant because they take it out of their dish and drag it around! XD

Okay, thanks! No butter. But what else could I put in the eggy surprise? Any ideas?
