Our 55 gallon (pic)

Post by daisybirddog »

I am new to crabs but have gotten seriously sucked in. My daughter and I adopted 4 crabs from a family who was moving. Then we bought 2 more. Now, we have 6 purple pinchers who are thriving thanks to the advice on this board. We just upgraded from a 30 to a 55 gallon tank.

Hi Daisybirddog, and welcome to HCP!
I'm so glad you found us!
Your tank looks great, really making me think about possibly switching my 55 gallon to all EE... I have Carib Sea Aragonite oolitic sand, and it's such a bear to clean it lol. Takes a full day.
Nah, I like the sand tho. But I have EE too, and invariably the sand gets full of EE lol. It's not so hard to clean it out, so guess I'll keep experimenting with different layouts until I find one where the sand doesn't get so dirty!

Your tank really looks like your crabs have lots of fun places to hide. Cool! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I love the EE. Knew nothing about it until I read about it here. Keeps the humidty high. The crabbies are out and climbing all day and night. Two of them have already molted. Happy crabs!
