Well at least they seem to be. I will put pics up tomorrow...still dont have a thermometer in there......I hit $500 spent and had to stop! could only find temp/humidity gauges for $100!! Figure I can get them cheaper elsewhere.
We now have a 2' x 18" x 18" tank
Infa red lamp
Combination of sand and Plantation soil....one happily buried straight into the soil...the other three are exploring
Coco husk shelter
salt water pool
fresh water bath
collection of extra shells
and 4 seemingly happy crabs........seen more movement out of them in the last few hours since we put them in the tank than we have in the few weeks that we have had them.
So I would like you all to welcome Gary, Speedy, Spongebob and currently named dockercrab...think that one will change when he gets out of the painted shell
Aw they are so happy!

Check your local hardware store for temperature/humidity gauges - I'm not from Australia, but our local Walmarts in the US have dual temp/humidity gauges (2 temp. readings, 1 humidity reading) for $10 or so.

Look on eBay. Supplies in Australia are definitely very expensive and I have resorted to buying online on many occasions from HK, US or UK sellers.
Which state are you from? If you are from VIC, I can list some specific stores to buy stuff from.

Re: Aw they are so happy!
Im in WA
update...Dockers crab tried on a new shell last night...caught him hopping back into his painted one but he is out there now inspecting another.
Gary is not doing alot...wandering a little
Dockers crab and spongebob are in love with the sponges and spent most of the night hanging out on the one in their salt watre pool...although spongebob has dug himself a lil hole now
Question......how long before they stop crapping themselves everytime we walk past? They are pulling back into their shells so fast they knock themselves over LOL

Re: Aw they are so happy!
One of my Es that I've owned for over a year still does that when I walk by most times. Occasionally he doesn't fall over backwards (which is funny when he completely flips onto his back and then has to figure out how to turn himself back over), but for the most part he still does pull in like he thinks I'm going to eat him for dinner.

Sponges accumulate large amounts of potentially harmful bacteria over time, so I suggest that you stop using them. Sponges do not help raise humidity levels to any significant degree. Do you have a lot of trouble trying to keep the humidity up in your tank?Amaranthe wrote:Dockers crab and spongebob are in love with the sponges and spent most of the night hanging out on the one in their salt watre pool...
