Post by Foxydiva3 »

It has been awhile since I last Posted but I thought I Would share my happy news. Those of you who know Monster he is By Jumbo Straw that Appears on The Crab care page hugging Suds is back. He had gone down for a moult around three months ago and I Hadn't seen him since. I was concerned because I have never had a softball sized crab no less a straw moult and thought probably he would not make it. He did He Came up yesterday and sat in the food dish for 4 hrs straight LOL. Just thought I would share my happy news :D :D :D

It's sad because most don't realize the amount of time a hermit crab can be down molting and end up digging up their molter, in effect killing it.
Each crab takes their own time - I've heard that jumbos can be down as long as 5 months. Some will only take a few weeks though, so there is no knowing at all, ever!

We just have to be patient, keep changing food and water (I resorted to keeping dry food in my molter's tank so I wouldn't have to keep wasting fresh food as well as changing it out every day or two), and put on the ol' pacing slippers!
