Only one came up

Post by iluvchloe »

:S I have two Hermit Crabs that are molting right now in an ISO tank. The one who burried himself last, came up first...and the one who burried himself first is still under...I don't see any movement but the hole changes every so often. I don't know if i should do anything or if I should just wait it out. The hermit who did come up seems fine. He is eating and drinking, but he's still digging holes everywhere. Should I leave him alone in the ISO tank or should I put him the regular tank with the other hermits? :S

It's perfectly normal for one crab to take longer than another to molt (it can take a month or more). I would just leave that one alone for a while. As far as the one that already came up as long as it's exoskeleton is good and hard and everything seems normal it should be perfectly safe to put it back in the tank with the other crabs.
