Ahh. My biggest cat is 20 lbs so that's probably not a good idea for me lol.

Does anyone have a pic of a plexi lid? What do you clamp the lamps onto? If I clamped a lamp on the lid, it would shine up or across, I couldn't point it down. Trying to explain why I'm asking lol. Or do you shine it in the side instead of the top?

My light goes in the side of my tank to not warp the plexiglass. I have warped one piece fairly badly with a light, and if the top isn't covered with plexiglass for lighting, there's no way for the humidity to stay up...I would fight to keep it above 50. It's still a bit low right now (dropped when I fed them from 71 to 67), but it's MUCH higher than when the light was on top.

This is what I did when I had my 10 Gallon with the plexi glass

I did have the lights clamped to the table too and shining through the right side of the tank but it was making the glass way to hot and I was afraid the crabs would lean up against the glass and cook themselves to death so I moved them to shine through the lid. The lamps I use were $5 each at home depot and hold up to 75 watts.

You could put some crumpled soda cans on top of the lid. That might scare the cat off. Or get a squirt gun and spray the cat whenever she naps up there.

Chermo,
what kind of lamps do you use? Wouldn't a heat lamp shining on the plexi like that warp it? Or maybe not if it's not directly on it?

Because it was not touching the lid it didn't warp badly at all. I flipped it once a week and it was great. The most it did was bow a little bit in the middle but that could have also been because there was not middle support.
