Chermo wrote:I have to agree with EmmaC, you need to put the food in a dish or even small plate to get it off the sand, it doesn't have to be a deep dish or even a large dish just a dish for the food. You also asked what we think so we are going to tell you what we think. I agree 100% with EmmaC and if you asked then you should accept what we say or take into concideration what we say to try to help you out. The tank does look nice but you really should have the food in a dish and not directly on the sand. That seems to be a very large pile of food for 3 crabs too, do they eat it all each night or do you offer smaller portions? I have 3 crabs and I put about 1/4 of what you have in that pile. I am not in any way critisising you on how much food you have but asking if they really eat that much each day?
haha no they don't eat that much, but I like to provide variety.

Your crabs are nocturnal creatures...they eat at night mostly...so taking the food out at night and refreshing in the morning doesn't allow them to eat their food. It works better if you feed at night and take out in the morning.

I agree with both chermo and emma regarding the food on the sand. Yes, in the wild it is not served in a dish of any sorts, but you also have many factors in nature that we do not have within our tanks regardless of how hard we may try. With the warmth and humidity levels we keep our tanks at food bacteria can grow to astronomical levels:
