MITES help!!

Post by Purple pinchers »

Well i fed my crab a grape yesterday and tonight i replaced the grape. I saw there were like tiny white things on the grape. I thought it was sand but i dont use sand :o Then They were moveing!!!! I hurried and threw the grape away and washed my hands! I dont see then any where els on in the tank but they were all over that grape. They were tiny tiny little white dots that looked just like sand/salt. What should i do and what are they??

Its too late at night to do anything to day and i am out of sunbstrait right now D:

You might have to take all the crabs out and clean everything especially the bedding.

They could be booklice, which if I'm not mistaken, are actually beneficial to your tank since they eat mold. They sound very similar to what I have had in my EE

Well i checked the crab and he had none on him... And I dont see anymore of those little mite things in the tank so i might wait a couple more days and see if i can find anymore. If i do then i will give the crab a bath and boil the bedding. But do u give the crab a bath in saltwater or fresh water??
thanks,

I'd say salt, but there's no guarantee that all the mites will be flushed out.
