When they know they've got good conditions, they do tend to be more active. I have a guy now who's up and active for 18 hours a day (I think...obviously I don't watch all the time to ensure he's not sleeping at some point, but still) now that I put him in the main tank from the iso. WAY more active than he was in the old 10g...he's been exploring for two days now. It's great to have a crab that you can see (especially if most of the others are molting).

If I take my crabs out in the daytime, they head straight for a shadowed place--like under the couch! I like to take them out in the evenings. I dip them in bath water if it is dry. I keep the lighting dim, and block access to furniture. I've also let them run amuck in the bathroom right after my shower while the air is moist. I have a large grass rug beside their tank and I usually let them roam the grass carpet, and keep them confined to it. I agree that you should only exercise the ones that are out and about exploring the tank. I usually let them out for 10-20 minutes and usually 2 crabs at a time.

THanks, I've been following that rule for quite some time now.
