i was in the hospital for 5 months,and my mom was taking care of my 2 hermies.crabby was my mean one,and hermie was my silly one.well while i was in the hospital crabby died from an unkown couse.and hermie was molting when i got back.she had been molting for a month,and is starting stinking,so i checked on her,and she was alive,but did not return to molt.instead,(i feel horibal.) she climbed on top of a heat rock.( i was new to it.) and i guess she fell asleep,and...got cooked alive.i walked into my room and smelt something i had never smelt before.and she was hanging out of her shell, barley moving.a verry grey color. i quickly picked her up and she fell out,along with a sickening smell and brown liquid....i cried...she was twitching in the sand,i was so worried,i felt so helpless....i watched her for about 30 minutes.i put a peice of paper between her pinchers...no response...she was dead....

i had no hermies after that,and i shoved that heat rock as far back in my closet as i could.

i havent had hermit crabs since.

i felt horribale..

but i miss my crabby friends...heck i even miss being pinched and cleaning up there morning messes.i miss there clicking sounds,and hering them nock stuff over at night.i miss letting them crawl all over me,and tickling me lol...

so thats why now im getting a bigger,better tank,with a better heat sorce,and of course,new hermies.i'll even pick out a hermie JR just for her..

omg thats is like the most terrible, saddest story about hermit crabs i have heard in a long time!!

i am so sorry for your loss though

You know, I have Es that are similarly colored to your 'blueberry' crab. I have one who's tan, one who's blue-gray with an orange leg, and two who are greenish. It could just be an awesome color of Ecuadorian crab.

okie dokie...i know for sure that malibu(hes molting, so no pics) is a pp, hes got the purple claw, and what not...its just that mr.finger and miko look so different compared to him....and i rearranged my tank, by the way ,so i'll be posting some new pics
