It's also important to calibrate the gauge. One I just got recently also analogue was reading at 20% lower than my digital. When I put my calibrated digital in the new tank it went off the top end of its limit just reading HH. According to the analogue one everything was hunky Dorey though.

Thank-you for clearing that up ladybug, I will write those notes onto my list as well! An update on the naked crab: he hasn't moved from the corner 3 days, but he is still alive. I was changing the water and food yesterday, and I found a good-sized Babylon shell that I put beside him, I dropped a piece of cooked steak in front of him, thinking he might be more willing to eat if he didn't have to move...

Ok, thank you, I will add mealworms to the list! (Not live, don't worry :) )

Thank you for your advice everyone, but the Pale passed away today :(

Ok, I don't know which posts are coming through, so here's one more... (Sorry guys). Thank-you all for your advice, but Pale passed away today :( I have a list of things to do including buying shells from Perth (I have emailed the guy, asking if you can specify types of shells), mealworms and to move my humidity gauge, and add in a temperature gauge to improve my tank and hopefully prevent this form happening again.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. :( You did all you could given the circumstances, When you do get your shells, try to dip them in ocean water (after boiling them first) prior to offering them. Our hermies here seem to prefer damp/wet shells as opposed to dry ones.
Sympathies,
Marie (aka ladybug15057)
