she scared me when she first came up. 3 week molt is rare for a crab her size isn't it? i'm honeslty surprised that she survived. she was so weak when she came up, she couldn't even carry her shell. that one leg, next to the broken one, she kept bending the bottom joint all the way back and moving around (in circles kinda) that way. she immediately went into iso bc of that and her gray/purple color. she seems ok now, as you can tell. she's definately become more social, like her old self, so maybe she'll be ok! i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to why this happened, so maybe i can prevent it from happening again.

what are the signs of a dying crab? athena has been acting really strange. she isn't as active as she has been. she comes out of her shell but then just sits there. it's like she doesn't have any energy to move. she doesn't flinch when i touch her legs or anything. i noticed some of my crabs who have passed away who come out of their shells all together or enough, their eyes go down before they pass away. she's been cleaning her eyes a lot recently. when i took everyone out today her eyes kept going up and down. she wasn't cleaning them, they would just move up and down. she is in ISO, but honestly, i don't know how much longer i'm going to have her....please help!

I've been your situation too before. :( There isn't much you can do, but keep the tank conditions well and plenty of nutritious food. If she doesn't seem to be eating at all, you might want to try hand-feeding her with a toothpick such as honey or tiny chunks of fruit and meat.

Any specific foods? She has dried blood worms in there now with some crushed egg shells. I'll go to the store today and get some toothpicks and honey. what about applesauce?

Have you tried spirulina? It's VERY nutritious.

i tried feeding her dried blood worms that are a huge hit with my hermies. however, she pushed them away from her mouth. unfortunately, i lost her last night. i will keep this experience in mind in case I have to go through this again.
